Wonder of Breasts

The Wonder of Breasts is a comedy sketch that pokes fun at charity infomercials all for a great cause: Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Los Angeles County approached us about creating a comedy sketch that would also serve as a call to action for donating to the Komen Foundation during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Because they were looking for a unique comedic angle for their video, Komen specifically sought us out for our expertise in comedy for women. We wrote the original script, sought out and secured top female comedian Riki Lindhome (IFC’s Garfunkel & Oates) as the video’s spokeswoman, and produced the sketch from start to completion.  We even had an original song written and composed for the sketch!

We sought out to create a PSA that wasn’t “your momma’s PSA.” By depicting the many uses for breasts, some actual, such as breastfeeding, and others absurd, such as floatation devices, “The Wonder of Breasts” used humor to spark dialogue and empower women to save this precious commodity through early detection.

Along with an original, hilarious video, we were also able to provide Komen with its own fundraising page on Comediva.com, and we developed a social sharing campaign around a custom tool we designed that allowed viewers to “adopt a pair of breasts” through the site and buy the T-shirts we custom designed for Komen.  The campaign also came with its very own slogan, “Be a Breastivist. Join the movement.”
