Play It Forward is a docu-style web series that pairs celebrities with local community organizations in need. Inspired by our work on Drop the Mic with Becky G, the team at Flama greenlit a series all about recording artists and other celebrities giving back to their communities.
Comediva developed the pilot of the series around The Lab Creative Art Studio, a dance studio in West Covina servicing local youth (ranging in age from 7-14) with scholarship-based dance courses. When they created a special dance video revolving around recording artist Becky G’s music, she was ecstatic and wanted to return the favor.
We worked closely with The Lab’s creative directors and Becky G to strategize a visit to The Lab where Becky would surprise 40+ children with gifts and the opportunity to perform with her on stage. The children were ecstatic! In part two of the pilot, we followed the children at the Uforia Music Festival, where they performed with Becky G, and blew the crowd away.
We took the pilot of the series from development through production and post-production, where a lot of the storytelling magic happened. Giving back is very important to us, and it’s for that reason that we’re very proud of this series!
